Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Hi! I am Jenna McHugh, a runner and fitness enthusiast. I run across the country each year sharing my passion for running and fitness on social media. I race all distances but the marathon is my favorite. I run about 2-3 each year including the Boston Marathon for the last five years. This year will be my 6th consecutive year! In addition to running, I am a Human Resources Vice President, a wife, and mother of three kids. I also serve on two non-profit Boards and have a passion for photography, traveling, and supporting the largest orphanage in Haiti through mission trips.

Advice for someone running their first marathon?
Mentally train as hard as you physically train. It is going to get hard. Marathons are never easy and your mind will probably tell you to quit. Practice your positive thinking and mantras consistently before the race. During the race, say those mantras, and never give up!
What does your recovery routine look like?
I prefer active recovery with a lot of walking. My favorite recovery is to explore the city the evening and day after the marathon.
What are your 3 tips to recover after a race?
Rest, refuel, and celebrate! Take the proper time off before running again. Many times this is 2-3 weeks for me. Refuel with lots of protein, best for muscle recovery, and celebrate your big accomplishment!
