Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I'm a high school principal for an online school in Colorado. I have 2 teenage boys and a husband who is also a school administrator. I enjoy baking (just about everything!), hiking, watching movies, reading, am a self-professed "foodie," and am obsessed with running.
Which race are you prepping for next?
Boston on April 15th. After that, I've got some shorter races this summer and then will ramp up again on my miles for a fall marathon (haven't nailed down which one yet).
What is your favorite pre-race snack?
A white bagel with peanut butter
What do you do the day before the big race?
Lay out my clothes and gear for the race, do a 2-3 mile slow shakeout run, visualize the race and what I'll be doing at each part of the course, smile and remind myself how I'm "choosing to do this," and make sure to get to sleep early.
Go-to post race meal?
Hamburger, fries, and chocolate cake! Give me all of the calories after a marathon!
Advice for someone running their first marathon?
Slowly build mileage. Also, make your "easy" runs the bulk of your mileage and keep them actually easy!
What does your recovery routine look like?
Foam roll, sleep, lots of water, and walking to shake that lactic acid out.
