Crowd-free is Carefree
Everyone has that friend whose life’s mission is to drag their buds out to the most jam-packed celebrations possible. If this sounds like your bestie, then it’s crucial that you just say no. Instead, opt for a more mellow bash, like a backyard barbecue, a community event, or a scenic day hike.
Reserve Campsites Early
While the Fourth of July isn’t necessarily billed as a camping holiday, anyone who has attempted to spend their vacation day in the great outdoors knows that it can be a busy time for campgrounds. That’s why it’s important to reserve that site early and choose wisely. Doing your research and settling on an area that’s more remote may be the one thing that makes or breaks the trip.
Lay off the alcohol
Though July 4th isn’t necessarily one of our nation’s "soberest" days, it’s important to keep your cool when it comes to drinking. Soaring temperatures can lead to dehydration and heat stroke--two things that don’t mix well with alcohol. So, if you still decide to indulge a bit, drink plenty of water. If you’re hanging outside, the golden rule will keep you feeling fresh: at least 1 glass of water per 1 alcoholic beverage.
Dress for Comfort
Because the Fourth tends to bring with it hot days followed by cooler nights, it’s important that you dress accordingly. We recommend light, layered clothing, sun protection, and a comfortable, breathable pair of shoes, like our OOringinal sandals.
