Project Pink: OOFOS' Mission to End Breast Cancer

Project Pink: OOFOS' Mission to End Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Throughout the month, you’ll notice many brands using the month of October to raise money for various breast cancer charities or to bring awareness to the disease.

OOFOS is different. Breast cancer is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts and our commitment to raising money for research is personal.  For us, it’s not about October… we raise money for breast cancer research 365 days a year.

In 2014, OOFOS was just a couple of years old and our brand leader/ marketing director Duncan Finigan had the responsibility of finding a philanthropic cause for OOFOS to get behind.  It was then, in the Fall of 2014, that Duncan was diagnosed with Stage 4, Metastatic Breast Cancer-- what she and her doctor refer to as treatable, non-curable cancer.

When Duncan told the OOFOS founders about her diagnosis, they immediately said, “Stop looking for a cause… the cause has found us.”  Wanting to stay true to the OOFOS mission of make yOO feel better, the entire OOFOS team rallied behind Duncan and vowed to do whatever we can to help her feel better. She said that one major need is money for research-- to keep developing treatments to fight her cancer, and others’, from growing.  From there, Project Pink was born.

We developed a special line of Project Pink shoes, consisting of our most popular styles with a pink logo.  For every pair sold, $10 is donated directly to breast cancer research, not only during the month of October, but 365 days a year.

But we didn’t stop there. Making people feel better is at the core of our business, and we wanted to do more. We decided that 3% of all shoe sales on OOFOS.com will also be donated directly to breast cancer research.

In fact, we've stepped it up even more this week! From October 28- November 3, we're doubling our donation on every product. 6% of all sales this week will be donated to research.

In October of 2017, we made our first big check donation for $81,680 to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where it contributes directly to research.  With your help, we are looking forward to writing larger and larger checks to support the important research work that is done each day to make breast cancer patients feel better, and someday soon, finding a cure.

Because of research dollars, progress is being made every day to continue finding solutions to help patients live longer.
